Little Falls Environs

Little Falls Local Area

Sign to the town of Little Falls

The falls here before the building of the dam gave the town its name "Little Falls".

Lock and Dam planned for 1874, but not built until 1884.

Catherine and Pauline near the Dam.

The dam is to the left of this bridge

Painting of the Logging that was one of the main trades when Elizabeth Hayes arrived in Belle Prairie. The mill is in the background of this photo.

Fort Ripley was built in 1849.  It is 14 miles north of Little Falls. We often forget that Elizabeth Hayes lived in pioneering times.

I wish to conclude this segment of the Pilgrimage to Belle Prairie with this depiction of St Francis resting in a hammock in the peace garden in the Little Falls Sister's grounds. He is enjoying some quiet time with other inhabitants of the garden.

So after the example of St Francis, rest peacefully until the next edition of my BLOG in October at the conclusion of my Franciscan Pilgrimage to the Holy Land which is from 23rd Sept to 1st Oct.

I leave for Bolivia on 2nd Oct and arrive on the  morning of 3rd Oct. Just in time to celebrate the feast of St Francis.
